Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about Smiski — glow, care, collecting, and where to buy.

Why isn't my Smiski glowing very brightly? +
Smiski use phosphorescent material that needs to absorb light energy to glow. If yours isn't glowing well, it hasn't received enough light during the day. Place it near a window (out of extreme direct heat) or under a bright desk lamp for a few hours. UV light and sunlight charge them the fastest.
How long does the glow last? +
A fully charged Smiski will glow brightly for the first 30-60 minutes in total darkness, and then gradually fade to a softer glow that can last for several hours. Your eyes adjusting to the dark will help you see the softer glow longer.
Can I buy a specific pose without the blind box? +
Officially, no. Retailers only sell them as sealed blind boxes. However, you can often find 'opened' figures being sold by resellers or traders on platforms like eBay, Mercari, or community trading groups if you are looking for a specific pose.
What is a 'Secret' Smiski? +
Every standard series contains one rare 'Secret' figure that isn't pictured on the box artwork (usually depicted as a mysterious silhouette). They have a very low pull rate, making them highly sought after by collectors.
Are they safe for children? +
Smiski are generally recommended for ages 3 and up. Because they are small figurines (usually around 2-3 inches tall), they can pose a choking hazard for toddlers and infants. Always keep them out of reach of very young children and pets.
How do I clean my Smiski? +
The matte, slightly textured surface can pick up dust or smudges over time. Wipe them gently with a damp, soft cloth. For stubborn marks, a tiny bit of mild soap on a damp cloth works. Avoid harsh chemicals, alcohol, or abrasive sponges, as these can damage the glow-in-the-dark finish.
Are all Smiski the same color? +
Almost all standard Smiski share the same pale mint-green color in the daylight and emit a green-yellow glow at night. However, there are occasionally special editions or specific series (like the Cheer Series) that feature different daytime colors or accessories.
Where is the best place to display them? +
Anywhere they can receive light during the day and be seen in the dark at night! Popular spots include bookshelves, window sills, computer monitors, nightstands, and bathroom counters. Half the fun is placing them in spots that match their pose.
Do they eventually lose their ability to glow? +
The phosphorescent material used in Smiski is very stable and should retain its ability to absorb and emit light for many years. It doesn't 'run out of batteries'.
Who makes Smiski? +
Smiski are created and manufactured by Dreams Inc., a Japanese design company known for creating whimsical, design-focused lifestyle products and toys.
